90th Anniversary Celebration – History Sunday is this week! We’ve got some GREAT things planned!

1) First, don’t forget to change your clocks for Daylight Savings Time (lose one hour);

2) Plan to attend a Pot-Luck Luncheon! Meat (pork) and drinks will be provided. Just bring a dish (salad, casserole, dessert, etc.) to share;

3) Look forward to seeing our 90th Anniversary Video

4) Check out samples of our 90th Anniversary History booklet.

Special thanks to the Committee: Barb Grumbach, Alycia Pryor, Barb McCrorie and Linda Perley.

At a Special Voters’ Meeting June 19th, OSL decided to close our Hispanic ministry. Voters approved a proposal from the Board of Elders which stated this action comes “with heavy hearts and after prayerful consideration….” And noted, “Despite our combined (best) efforts over a period of six (6) years, the ministry has not prospered according to plans.”  We commend Pastor Diaz for his faithful service, thank all those who have given of themselves in the support of this ministry and commend Pastor and people to God’s grace, trusting His future providence.

Bible Sticks Success!

OSL received an offering to supply the Bible on USB drives for US military personnel over Memorial Day weekend. The “Bible Sticks” cost $25 each and have been very well received. We heard powerful testimonies from Army Generals, Navy Captains and the rank and file.

God opened the hearts of our members to give a generous free will offering of almost $700! Here’s the thank you note we received:

“Thank you for your generous donation of $694 to the “Military Biblestick Program” making God’s Word available to our brave servicemen and women!” —Troy Carl, Senior VP, Faith Comes By Hearing

Florida-Georgia LCMS District Convention

Pastor Wipperman and Bill Simms attended the Flordia-Georgia LCMS District Convention on behalf of Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Convention was June 12-14 in Orlando.

We experienced a powerful, uplifting and mission focused gathering of pastors and people from the two state area. Our District is strongly committed to connecting people to Jesus! Bill wants to share his thoughts with you at church soon. I believe that you will enjoy hearing his perspective.

Here is a link to the Lutheran Life Convention Issue: (click here)

See if you can findsome friendly faces in the photos!

To keep this all fresh, the District has made the Convention video available on YouTube. Please feel free to take a look yourself and pass this link around to anyone you think might like to see it. We will be showing it at church on July 19th before and after the service. The video is 22 minutes long, so we will start it at 9:00 and replay it 5 minutes after worship concludes.
